Mindful Photography Workshop Orkney
Each day, you’ll head off for a different destination, allowing you time to immerse. You will be guided by Margaret and Paul who are both believers in mindful photography and will gently teach and encourage.
Photography Workshop Orkney
Myself and Paul Sanders have created a mindful Photography Workshop based in Stromness on the Orkney Isles. A chance to slow down, really notice the beauty of the landscape, and develop your own vision. We will visit many of the beautiful and historical places on Orkney. From crashing waves and big cliffs to the Standing stones of Stennes. Our base in Stromness means you have the opportunity to meander through the streets at your own leisure as well. The idea behind the workshop is to allow yourself time to create and not to feel rushed. By slowing down, it is possible to develop a mindful photography practice. We are here to facilitate and guide you gently along the way.
The tidal island of the Brough of Birsay
Marwick Head RSPB reserve with breathtaking views along the coastline
The Standing Stones of Stenness near neolithic monuments
The Italian Chapel and the Scapa Flow wrecks
The sea stacks, cliffs, and wild seas of Yesnaby
We’ve secured a series of 4-star cottages along Stromness harbour, all with access to a pier with beautiful sea views. Every guest will have their own room and there is no single supplement. All except two rooms have their own bathrooms – en-suite bedrooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Margaret Soraya & Paul Sanders
Paul Sanders and Margaret Soraya both work in an intuitive manner and believe that photography is about how you respond to the landscape. They are both passionate about helping others develop their own landscape photography, bringing out their own unique voice.
Margaret specialises in photographing some of Scotland’s most remote and wild places and has photographed landscapes for 23 years. She is fascinated by the connection between wellness and being in nature and how solitude in the outdoors can be revitalising for introverts.
Paul believes strongly that being present within the landscape and the connection you have with nature is the most important part of landscape photography.
Both tutors are gentle and kind teachers who are passionate about helping your learn and develop.
