Valtos cottage – a luxury stay on the Isle of Lewis

Scottish accommodation, Scottish Islands

When looking for a week's self catering let on the Outer Hebrides, I decided to head to a part of the island I haven't spent much time at.  I chose Valtos cottage mostly because of its amazing looking bathroom! I swim a lot outdoors and warming up in a nice hot tub or sauna is a very special treat indeed. This corner of the North West of the Isle of Lewis is tucked away and a little distance from everything else. In terms of landscape photography on the Isle of Lewis, it is a place well worth that extra travelling. When looking at beaches on the Outer Hebrides this part of the island has so many very special places. And I was delighted to find out that Valtos cottage was literally minutes away from the stunning little bay at Kneep and a couple more minutes from the long stretch of incredible shell sands of Reef Bay.

The huge windows look out over the bays so you can watch the light changing before your eyes. The cottage itself has all the mod cons and is extremely comfortable. Once I had worked out how to use the hi tech shower and jacuzzi, it was just a dream to be able to return cold from the sea and warm up in a jacuzzi. We all loved our time there and am so glad we took the opportunity to get to know a new part of the Isle of Lewis. I hear the owners are building a new property even higher up the hill with even more incredible views so watch this space!
